My Canon G16

Not many people know how powerful this little compact from Canon is. Launched in August 2013 it fast became the compact of choice for those not wanting to go to the flagship 1GX . Over the last 6 months I have used it as a social camera , family fun shoots and in a number of difficult situations lighting wise.  To say that I am impressed would be an understatement and then some.

So , what do I find the most exciting with this little beast ? Well just about everything from the ergonomic layout , menus , creative options and mind-blowing image quality . I should also mention the solid feeling as you grip the unit & also how easily it stores in your pocket or better half’s handbag !

Need to add this in after publishing this blog , BUT the coolest part of this system is the WIFI transfer and remote shooting from the Canon app when connected to my smart phone. Shoot , edit and share within moments ! I used this function a number of times recently will doing a profile shoot where I needed to share and upload post haste !

We sometimes need to look beyond what the specs say and sometimes just look at the end results. Here is selection of images taken over my test period in varying modes from full manual , AV to full auto . I would recommend this little unit without hesitation. Shots include , SA vs NZ Rugby test match , Conservation march , Wino’s for Rhino’s , bushveld sunsets and music shots of Beukes & Delaney.
